Aspec Exchange 2025
Sep. 20th, 2025 03:14 pmHello, and thank you for considering writing something for me! Treats are welcome, as are fics of any rating. I'm aguntoaknifefight (swirlingvoid) on ao3. Fandoms and pairings are organized alphabetically.
DNW: setting change AUs*, unrequested noncon within requested pairings (ie. a character’s ‘no’ being purposefully ignored; dubcon is welcome), unrequested trans headcanons, unrequested omegaverse, on-page sex with a character under 16 (or species equivalent; discussions of solo or paired sexual exploration prior to this age are fine), Celebrimbor/Sauron being a non-closed relationship once established (any of the other requested relationships being open/non-exclusive is welcome!)
*defined here as changing the location and/or time period of canon; pre-canon, future fic, or adding tropes to the setting are all fine!
Stylistically, I particularly enjoy:
General themes I particularly like:
I love “bad” aspec rep, where aro and/or ace characters have messy and deeply complicated relationships with their orientation, particularly in ways that affect other people. I don’t necessarily need fluff or wholesome/healthy relationships for any of the requested relationships. Any form of aphobia is welcome (besides corrective rape where noncon is not requested; this includes internalized or externalized aphobia from requested characters, particularly if it’s non-malicious). I am also very interested in characters who do not have language or cultural models for how they feel, and how that in turn shapes their actions and relationships with their sexuality. Additionally, I’d love to see how sexual/romantic orientation impacts a character’s relationship with their gender. (Disconnection from gender is welcome for all characters, including those I haven’t otherwise opted in trans headcanons for.) Explicit sex is also welcome for any of the nominated pairings (including those with asexual characters), whether consensual or as a result of societal coercion (or actual coercion between Jon/Elias).
The Hunger Games
Katniss
Aromantic Katniss is one of my oldest aspec headcanons, and I’d honestly be delighted with anything of any tone! You have free rein. (The noncon DNW is waived here.)
The Magnus Archives
Jon/Elias
I’d love either an alloace Jon, or an aroace Jon who is fixated on Elias for Beholding reasons. Aspec Elias (any orientation) is also welcome, as are trans-man-Jonah-wearing-cis-man-Elias and/or nonbinary (any gender) Jon. The / can be a QPR, if that’s how the story shakes out.
Every season of TMA offers a slightly different dynamic between them, and I find the season three period particularly interesting, because it’s the point where Jon is aware that a struggle for power exists and begins to come into his own. I find this pairing appealing for the way it offers a view of a monstrous transformation which is not judged by the other person (and is in fact actively encouraged). I like Jon as both a reluctant monster who is doing his absolute best to find a non-existent moral solution for his food supply and as someone who gives himself over into inhumanity and is perhaps able to find some peace in it. Either way, he’s differentiated from humanity in a way that requires active effort to bridge. (While I do appreciate the way Jon’s asexuality is not conflated with his monstrosity in canon, I would love to see Jon doing that conflating here. Is he aware that asexuality is an option, given that we don’t actually hear the word in canon so much as a description of behavior?)
Elias treats Jon like a lamb for slaughter, and I am fascinated by the real affection he has for Jon while at the same time he deliberately shapes him into something that will serve his own purposes. I love how delighted he is in MAG 102 when Jon unthinkingly uses his powers, and when Jon compels him in MAG 92. I like this as a point of tension in their relationship, particularly in season 3 and 4 where Jon is really struggling with maintaining his humanity. I’d love to see something where Jon is able to get the upper hand, or gets a moment of comfort from Elias (particularly in season four or five where it’s rough going with the other staff ← I love how fucked up everybody’s interpersonal relationships get in the pressure cooker environment of the Archives/end of the world).
For the rape freeform, you’re welcome to have that be between Jon/Elias. However, I’d also be interested in an aftermath scenario, where the rape was one of Jon’s marks (his archive warnings, if you will permit the joke) from whichever Entity you’d prefer, and Elias attempts to make Jon unashamed of his reaction (in a probably deeply unhealthy way), as he can be afraid and unashamed (of this) at the same time.
The Silmarillion
While you absolutely do not need to incorporate it, I’m deeply intrigued by how LACE would impact the formation of an asexual or aromantic identity for all of the Silmarillion prompts. (If you’re unfamiliar with what specifically this is referring to, it’s a couple pages in “Morgoth’s Ring,” the tenth volume of HoME, which refer specifically to Elvish marriage.) By and large, Elves are assumed to not experience sexual attraction until marriage — a) is that actually what most people experience [I personally lean towards LACE being a cultural belief, not a biological mechanism] and b) what happens to the relationship afterwards when those feelings don’t develop? How does the expectation of wedlock-based demisexuality shift a baseline understanding of asexuality or allosexuality? What about aroallo characters? (I imagine it’s quite hard on them.) Aroace characters? Does a specific asexual(-esque) identity arise in response to other cultures? Is there an association with religion? Immaturity? What about sex-repulsed characters? How do any of the nominated relationships navigate it?
What are ways people try to undermine it or get around it? What precisely counts as sex? Does anal sex count? Non-penetrative sex? Any form of too-intimate touch? What about someone who’s already married having sex with someone who isn’t their spouse? (Does it matter if that person is single or also married?) How does the inability to get divorced affect people? (Seriously I am so horrified by the fact they can’t get divorced.)
How does the purpose of marriage being children affect childless couples, whether in times of war or outside of them? What about sex after you’ve had all the children you want? Does sexual desire actually evaporate at that point?
Technically it’s not part of LaCE, but how does the prohibition against marriages between first cousins/siblings/direct ancestors play into this? How does this differ between Elvish cultures (particularly if LaCE isn’t a biological mechanism), especially during the period of Sindarization?
What cultural stories/methods of being exist for various queer people? How does that shape queer identities, particularly the boundaries or lack thereof between ones we might consider completely different? Having children is such a big part of marriage that it feels implausible to me that same-sex marriage would exist, but is there a lot of homosociality that may or may not shade into romance and sex, even if it’s not understood as that?
Aredhel/Celegorm
I’d really love to see an aroace, alloaro, or aro-spec Aredhel. (Any aspec or non-aspec orientation for Celegorm is welcome as well.)
I love Aredhel as a woman who is simultaneously morally compromised (kinslaying) and sympathetic (everything else); I love Celegorm as someone who does not pretend to be less dangerous or awful than he is, even to himself. (Though both of these are probably less applicable to Years of the Trees-era fics, I'd love to see the first emergence of these traits.)
I feel like Aredhel and Celegorm get each other on a level that other people don’t. Has she followed in Orome’s train in the past alongside Celegorm? How did they initially click with each other? Were they fuckbuddies/cousins-with-benefits in the Years of the Trees? How long did it take post-Helcaraxe for Aredhel to speak to Celegorm again? I’d also love to see something set post-fleeing Eol (perhaps someone recognizes this is a situation that is going to get dangerous and decides Eol doesn’t get marital rights, actually?) or in fourth-age Valinor post-reembodiment. What are Aredhel and Celegorm like with each other?
Pairing-specific DNW: marriage between Aredhel/Celegorm; Aredhel/Eol being divorced (permanent separation very welcome!)
Celebrimbor/Sauron
This is a headcanon that snuck up on me, but I would really love to see a graysexual Sauron. I love to see Sauron rationalizing his feelings, and I’d particularly love watching him be abruptly walloped with sexual attraction for the first or second time in his life. Nonbinary (any gender) Sauron or a Sauron who is a man On Purpose is welcome.
This is my ultimate “The love was there. It didn't change anything. It didn't save anyone. But the love was there” pairing because the love being there makes things feel so much worse. I love interpretations where the relationship is (wildly unexpectedly for Sauron, who thinks feelings are for other people) genuine and affectionate, and then Sauron still goes through with choosing power anyway! I’d really love to see the period of time before he makes that choice, where he is navigating a real relationship and has to communicate about what he wants.
Please give me your headcanons for worldbuilding where necessary! I’m very open to anything regarding Celebrimbor in terms of where and when he was born, who his mother/other biological parent is, his level of complicity in the first kinslaying, and how much he knows or suspects about Sauron. I would also be really, really interested in how LaCE gets navigated for this pairing and/or how the relationship is publicly presented. (Are there Thingol and Melian comparisons? How much does Sauron resent them?)
Curufin Pairings
Curufin! I love him as asexual but don’t have a preference for his romantic orientation. Any aspec or non-aspec orientation is welcome for Celegorm; I’d prefer if Finrod was alloallo, though I’m open to exploring how his experience being different from the standard Elvish expectations shapes him.
Both requested pairings are incestuous; I’m intrigued by the idea of Curufin as someone who may not necessarily care to (or be able to) tell various forms of affection apart, or where (for whatever reason) he’s only willing to have sex/do kink/be romantically involved with relatives.
Celegorm/Curufin
I would be really interested in a scenario where Curufin marries his canonical wife under the assumption that he’ll develop sexual attraction to her once they’re married and then that just…doesn’t happen. Does he process the fallout from that with Celegorm? I’d also love to see anything involving kink (particularly D/s, knifeplay, and/or CNC) with them, whether it’s completely non-sexual, gradually becomes sexual, or involves sex as part of but not the focus of kink. For the “asking an allo character about their experiences,” I’d love to see Curufin getting off [literally or in a non-sexual way] on hearing about Celegorm’s exploits (with other people in Oromë’s hunt, maybe? Or with Aredhel, if you’d like to combine those prompts). (Also, Celegorm does not necessarily have to be allo for that freeform, so long as there are experiences; perhaps Curufin is assuming and then the “coming out to a sibling” freeform happens.)
Curufin/Finrod
I’d love to see the powder keg of Nargothrond before it gets lit up! I like these two as cousins who were not necessarily close before the war intervened, and I also love Finrod as simultaneously honorable and deeply politically savvy. How accurate is the narrator of the Silmarillion about what’s happening politically in Nargothrond prior to the quest? (Years of the Trees-era Curufin/Finrod is also welcome, I just have less of an idea of what it looks like!)
Dior Pairings
Dior! I love him written as alloaro, and would be fascinated by seeing how that interacts with any of the other requested character’s orientations (any aspec or non-aspec orientation is welcome for Nimloth, Curufin, and Celegorm).
Celegorm/Curufin/Dior
I am so intrigued by them! They’re all well-matched enough to kill each other (and there’s so much history and pre-existing obsession between them and Dior’s parents, which I imagine Dior certainly feels heavily). I'd love something where the relationship is an extension of politics and the tension between the Noldor and the Sindar (and am therefore fine with this involving a significant degree of hatred between C&C and Dior, though I’d prefer that wasn’t the totality of the emotions). I’d prefer Dior to be over the age of majority (though I’m fine with his relative youth/inexperience being played up as well as much being made of the fact that in another universe Celegorm could have been his father), but I really don’t have a preference towards consensual sex or dubcon. If the relationship is consensual, my big question is: How? How did they get here? Did someone have the bright idea to attempt an arranged marriage to stabilize the political situation prior to the second kinslaying (which...worked, somehow)? Have they all been re-embodied in Valinor and are now working out their issues in a way the Valar probably didn't predict? Are they roleplaying their deaths? (Does this turn into a different kind of roleplay?) Are Celegorm and Curufin already together, or is Dior an acceptable proxy for desire?
Curufin/Dior
I tend to view Curufin as a kinky ace and Dior as aromantic and would love to see anything about how they navigate that, particularly in a more consensual situation. All of the above thoughts re: Celegorm/Curufin/Dior apply here as well.
Dior/Nimloth
Did they marry young? Was Tol Galen in contact with Menegroth at all? (And did other people live there, or did Dior grow up largely alone besides his parents?) I would be equally happy with seeing a snippet of their relationship pre-second kinslaying or how it changed post-reembodiment in Valinor — or Dior figuring some things out, identity-wise, in the Halls of Mandos.
