[personal profile] aguntoaknifefight
Hello, and thank you for considering writing something for me! Treats (in any medium) are welcome. I'm aguntoaknifefight (swirlingvoid) on ao3. Fandoms and pairings are organized alphabetically.

DNW: setting change AUs*, on-page sex with a character under 16 (or species equivalent; discussions of solo or paired sexual exploration prior to this age are fine), unrequested trans characters

*defined here as changing the location and/or time period of canon; pre-canon, future fic, or adding tropes to the setting are all fine!

General likes
Stylistically, I particularly enjoy:
  • Outsider POV
  • Second and third person POV
  • Pre- & post-canon fics
  • 5 + 1 things

  • Art nouveau
  • Art styles that mimic canon or in-universe forms of art (including ones like textiles)
  • Moments that parallel each other through time
  • Color contrasts
  • The colors teal and orange
  • Art which is monochrome except for one specific detail in (a different) color
  • Characters (of any gender) being put into Very Pretty Dresses (I particularly enjoy long skirts)
  • Gloves and masks and cloaks
  • Fragmented images

    • time travel
    • time loops
    • amnesia
    • dimension travel
    • truth serum
    • de-aging (both physical-only and physical-and-mental)

  • Grief/mourning (this includes for deceased characters but also for absent ones or more abstract griefs like for periods of life or a sense of selfhood that can no longer be returned to)
  • Crack treated seriously
  • When applicable to canon, queerphobia existing as a social structure, even if it doesn't come up interpersonally
  • Period-typical and/or internalized homophobia
  • Asexual and/or aromantic characters of any kind
  • For trans characters, attention to how gender functions and is conceptualized in their society, what types of transition is or isn't available, how transition impacts ability to inherit (in relevant canons)
    • I also like when nonbinary characters have a specific gender beyond "nonbinary," even when the label isn't mentioned in text
  • Disabled characters (whether canonically or as a result of injuries/trauma that were fine in canon)
  • Non-sexual kink, if it fits the canonical relationship dynamic
  • Romance as horror & horror as romance
  • Characters who are trying to hold it together but fraying at the edges
  • Cracking a stoic character open like a clam (emotionally, though it can certainly be done through physical means)
  • Emotionally significant names and titles (and thee/thou as a marker for intimacy where canon-appropriate)
  • Relationships that are hard to classify or ping other characters as weird
  • Characters who are torn between loyalty to an individual and their ideals
  • Unresolvable moral conflicts between two characters/groups the reader is meant to find relatively sympathetic
  • Characters doing their best in tough situations, especially when "their best" is quite bad
  • In-universe politics (for non-real world settings)
  • Characters being betrayed by their bodies
  • Coughing up blood
  • Passing out dramatically in another character's arms
  • Hiding (and failing to hide) medical issues
  • Characters who are isolated (socially/emotionally, though it can include physically as well)
  • Cannibalism
  • Incest smarm (ie: it's unclear whether these relations are having sex or just particularly close and the fic is luxuriating in that ambiguity, often from an outside POV. "Weirdcest" is a Supernatural-fandom specific variant of this)
  • Shapeshifters & their relationships to their bodies

Smut likes
General themes I particularly like:

  • Kinking on inexperience (or pretended inexperience)
  • Psychological aspects of kink

    • In this same vein, characters (especially men) getting off on their own passivity, particularly the mindset of being "acted upon"
  • Sub tops with dom bottoms and/or submissive sadists with dominant masochists
  • Same-generation incest
  • Dubcon (defined here as "consent is ambiguous or not given, but no one feels assaulted afterwards")

  • Words used for genitalia that feel appropriate to the POV character (including archaic, vague, childish, and clinical language)
  • Break the haughty
  • Sex pollen (and other aphrodisiac-type things), especially for how it can emphasize or flip a power dynamic, lead to a realization or confession of feelings, and/or break a character’s facade
  • Sex chicken (in the game sense)
  • Erotic horror
Specific acts or kinks I particularly like:
  • Voyeurism of any type
  • Watersports
    • Particularly pissing inside someone anally or vaginally, submissive wetting (including in non-omegaverse settings), kinking on the sensation of pissing or watching someone else do so, and the usage of chamber pots
  • Proxy sex (examples for requested pairing A/B, where C is either a canonical character or an OC):
    • A has sex with C while thinking about B
    • an A/B/C threesome has C in the middle as an excuse to legitimize the sex A/B are(n’t) having

The Elric Saga

Elric is welcome as any gender, trans or cis! Any genitals and gender presentation are welcome for Arioch.

Arioch/Elric

I love Arioch; he's so amoral and delightful. Please subject Elric to him, in whatever form that takes. I particularly like the tension over Elric's loyalty, where he is very dependent on Arioch but not enthusiastic in his loyalty, while Arioch finds him amusing to toy with. I will never be over the fact that Arioch canonically calls him "surely the sweetest of all my slaves" and Elric is constantly describing Arioch as beautiful even when he's otherwise all business. I am very into Arioch forcing Elric to admit who he belongs to or otherwise perform loyalty, particularly in a public setting or in front of Elric's allies.

Cymoril/Elric/Yyrkoon

Ah, this fucked up incestuous love triangle. Yyrkoon’s seething jealousy towards Elric for being the object of Cymoril’s affections feels like it could very easily overflow the bounds and wind up with him sexually fixated on both of them (and I think in a universe where Elric has at any point occupied the category of “female” in Yyrkoon’s mind, it has). Cymoril still seems to love her brother, despite her lack of sexual interest in him, up until the kidnapping, while Elric is in the middle between them (particularly post-getting Stormbringer when he begins to see Yyrkoon as a kindred spirit). I like the tension around where everyone’s romantic interests lie and would love to see that continued here as well.

I'm fine with this focusing more on one leg of the triangle so long as the other character is very present in thought!

The Game and the Candle

John Allard/Adrian Stanief/Feodor Stanief

The novel was published in 1909 and is therefore available on Project Gutenberg here. It’s a little less than 50k words.

These cousins have a wonderfully deranged dynamic. Stanief and Adrian both have “the habit of domination” and the whole book is Stanief doing his damnedest to yield and be genuinely loyal to Adrian despite the personal cost, while Adrian “is a kitten for whom we are all toy mice.” Add to that John, who is textually passed between them and loves them both. I really do not think you have to do all that much to add a romantic/sexual dynamic here, either with Stanief going against his natural inclination to dominate or Allard as their shared sub. Allard is regularly summoned to Adrian’s bed(side)! And meanwhile there’s also the tension with Adrian being so young and yet completely unable to trust the people around him to be genuine — post-canon, is that something they can move towards?

My “on-page sex under-16” DNW is waived for this canon, so long as Adrian’s age is not explicitly given a number. (It being implied is fine, either as mentions of his youth generally or how many months/years John has been at court.)

The Silmarillion

Tolkien-specific likes
  • Ominous foreshadowing in otherwise light-hearted fics
  • Politics, particularly relationships (sexual, romantic, queerplatonic, or platonic) as extensions of politics
  • Messy and complicated family dynamics (incestuous or otherwise)
  • The insane amount of time Elves are alive for and how that affects history for them and everyone else
  • Grief and inevitability and memory
  • Alien Maiar and Valar
  • Setting-appropriate/plausible prejudice or baggage around gender, sexuality, disability, and race
    • Laws and Customs Among the Eldar being a set of social expectations and ideals
  • Post-Years of the Trees Valinor and the complexities of being re-embodied
  • Religion and cultural traditions
  • Elvish hair kink

Celebrimbor/Sauron

This is my ultimate “The love was there. It didn't change anything. It didn't save anyone. But the love was there” pairing because the love being there makes things feel so much worse. I love interpretations where the relationship is (wildly unexpectedly for Sauron, who thinks feelings are for other people) genuine and affectionate, and then Sauron still goes through with choosing power anyway! I would love to see any era for them: pre-relationship, early relationship, very comfortable in the relationship, torture/death, or re-embodiment/post-death. I’m fine with this one being in the past only, particularly if they’re not interacting with each other in the present (either because one of them is dead or because they’re permanently separated), as well as Celebrimbor’s love towards Sauron being very, very complicated and involving some level of hatred post-identity reveal. (And honestly, I'm fine with the same from Sauron as well! Was he expecting Celebrimbor to be on his side even just a little bit? Was he prepared for feelings of betrayal?) I like when Sauron-as-Annatar is flawed in ways that come across very differently without the context the reader has about who he is and where this is headed.

Please give me your headcanons for worldbuilding where necessary! I’m very open to anything regarding Celebrimbor in terms of where and when he was born, who his mother/other biological parent is, his level of complicity in the first kinslaying, and how much he knows or suspects about Sauron (though I'd prefer if he didn't suspect everything correctly in a canon-compliant fic). I would also be really, really interested in how LaCE and/or homophobia gets navigated for this pairing and how the relationship is publicly presented. (Are there Thingol and Melian comparisons? How much does Sauron resent them?)

Any genitals are welcome for Sauron, as is him being any gender of nonbinary or a man On Purpose, though YMMV on if the latter is (narratively or on a character level) transness or not.

Celegorm/Curufin

They are playing “I’m not touching you” with the line of what ‘counts’ as incest, I feel. What finally pushes them over the edge? I am intrigued by how they function as a tight-knit unit from essentially the beginning; we consistently hear them described together and as living on each other’s lands. They also both seem willing to own up to what they’re willing to do for the Oath much sooner than their other siblings (even the ones who will go on to commit the third one after C&C are dead). Is that loyalty ever tested? I’m interested in really any era for them (Years of the Trees, early First Age, Nargothrond, post-Nargothrond pre-Doriath, post-death Valinor) and any tone that feels appropriate.

Celegorm/Curufin/Dior Eluchíl

I am so intrigued by them! They’re all well-matched enough to kill each other (and there’s so much history and pre-existing sexual obsession between them and Dior’s parents, which I imagine Dior certainly feels heavily). I'd love something where sex is an extension of politics and the tension between the Noldor and the Sindar (and am therefore fine with this involving a significant degree of hatred between C&C and Dior, though I’d prefer that wasn’t the totality of the emotions). For this, I’d prefer Dior to be over the age of majority (though I’m fine with his relative youth/inexperience being played up as well as much being made of the fact that in another universe Celegorm could have been his father), but I really don’t have a preference towards consensual sex or dubcon. If it is consensual, my big question is: How? How did they get here? Did someone have the bright idea to attempt an arranged marriage to stabilize the political situation prior to the second kinslaying (which...worked, somehow)? Have they all been re-embodied in Valinor and are now working out their issues in a way the Valar probably didn't predict? Are they roleplaying their deaths? (Does this turn into a different kind of roleplay?) Are Celegorm and Curufin already together, or is Dior an acceptable proxy for desire?

Elrond Peredhil & Elros Tar-Minyatur & Maedhros & Maglor

I'm so intrigued by the tiny snippet of their life together we get in the Silmarillion. What does “love grew after between them” look like on a day-to-day basis? Where is Maedhros in the equation? I love undercurrents of unacknowledged trauma and the weird gray space Maedhros and Maglor exist in in relation to the twins. I’d really love to see the four of them once they’re fully settled into the new normal. Is there ever a point where Elrond or Elros resents that the love does exist and cannot be dismissed in a way which would allow for easy compartmentalization?

I’d love to see what the actual moment of letting the twins go join the army looked like. Did M&M go with them until they got to the camp? Was it planned for a long time or a spur of the moment thing on precisely when it would be? Who was reluctant and who was excited (or both)?

I’d also love to know if the dialogue we get in the Silmarillion itself between M&M comes from Elrond, because it seems like it very easily could. Does the writer of the in-universe Silmarillion sit him down for an interview/oral history? How consciously is Elrond shaping the narrative of what his captivity was? How much does he need to emphasize that he did love Maglor and Maglor loved them, and what is external pressure pushing him to believe? Is it easier once the war ends, because then M&M are no longer active threats to the rest of society and Elrond can work to rehabilitate their image? What is Elrond leaving out because it’s too complicated for public consumption? If Elros ever gives a similar type of interview — or even a private conversation with his family in Numenor — what does he say about the same stretch of time, and how does it differ from Elrond’s account, particularly after he has his own children?

(I’m okay with as many of the four of them being dead as the plot or timeline demands; Maedhros/Maglor is also welcome as part of this, as well as the Complicated Fucking Feelings that would probably come with either of the twins knowing about it.)

Elwing & Elrond Peredhil

I would particularly love to see their relationship after Elrond comes to Valinor following the Lord of the Rings. Are they able to figure out how to be mother and child when they had that relationship for probably six to eight years followed by so much separation and loss? Is Elwing able to find some measure of peace in talking about the loss of Elros with Elrond? What does Elrond actually remember about her?

Indis /or& Míriel Þerindë

I’m particularly interested in this post-Miriel’s death, whether it’s one-sided from Indis or after Miriel eventually decides she does want to be re-embodied. (I feel like the Valar would allow this, so long as Finwe is dead? They’ve just sort of swapped places, so no one alive is married to two people at once.) What do they like about each other, platonically or romantically? How do they deal with both of them living in the shadow of a Miriel who no longer exists? What do their children and grandchildren (etc.) think?

Indis & Nerdanel

I’m fascinated by the mention in Morgoth’s Ring that Nerdanel stayed with Indis during Feanor’s exile. What does their relationship look like, especially early in Feanor and Nerdanel’s marriage or after the Darkening, when there are so few Noldor still in Valinor?

Maedhros/Maglor

I think they’re playing a similar game as Celegorm and Curufin but it’s miserable and weirdly tied up with duty, at least once they're several kinslayings in. They have the potential to be gothic as fuck. They're the last two of Feanor's sons standing and I imagine that cannot have done great things for their relationship. I love the potential collapse of identity here, where it's hard to tell what they are to each other in part because the people who used to play other roles (father, companion, wife, mother, friend, etc.) are all dead. That said, I would also love to see a lighter version of them in Valinor! (Either before or after death.)

Maedhros & Míriel Þerindë

I am particularly interested in these two and their relationship to suicide. They have quite different motivations; Miriel’s death seems to be a response to Feanor’s birth specifically, though she never seems to regret it, while Maedhros textually expresses a desire for death twice at points that are chronologically far apart. I think it is possible and likely that Maedhros lives with at least periodic suicidal ideation from Angband onwards. How do either of them conceptualize their deaths? They only know of each other; Maedhros through stories and Miriel through tapestries. (I am fascinated by Miriel as someone who is literally writing the history of her family, but who is largely voiceless within it.) I would just really like to see them interact in this context, whether or not the subject of their deaths actually comes up.

The Time Master

Tarod/Yandros

Link to my promo post and where to find canon!

Their dynamic drives me completely insane; it’s so good. The supposed villain going “we’re two sides of the same coin, you’re more like me than you think, you’ll understand eventually,” and then he’s just actually right. (Not in every aspect, admittedly! But the personal ones.) The entire time I was reading this series, I was expecting a third act betrayal from Yandros, and I am so charmed that did not happen. Yandros ultimately chooses Tarod and defers to his decision, even though he doesn’t necessarily agree with it.

I'd love to see Yandros's perspective on any of the scenes where he's talking to Tarod and isn't managing to win him over; I imagine it must be very frustrating. He’s fairly restrained about how much he misses Tarod in canon, but it’s such a disturbing and relatively long-lasting separation, compared to what they've done before. I also think there's a lot of potential for interaction in the time between books one and two, where Tarod has trapped himself in a completely empty castle that he's wrenched out of time. They literally can't get the plot moving, so what else is there to do?

I very much enjoy watching Tarod wrestle with his morality, and I would take truly so many words of it. If Yandros ever does decide to try seduction (whether or not he’s told Tarod that they’re siblings), how does Tarod take it? I would love to see him muddling through confused feelings, particularly if dream sex or shapeshifting is involved.

Post- (or pre-)canon with them both as gods is welcome as well. What are they like when there’s no misunderstandings? (If you’re interested in writing smut, I think they have had the absolute weirdest sex, at least half of which is completely unintelligible to the human brain as such.) Any genitals are welcome for either of them.

I love outside POV and this is a canon I think it works very well for, as humans either don’t remember or understand much about Yandros and Tarod (either as people or as gods). I think we should toss (confirmed? rumored?) incest/displays of affection into the mix and see what happens.

I have read both the prequel and sequel trilogies as well, so feel free to pull in canon from there if it's helpful and don’t worry about it if it isn’t. (I particularly enjoyed Yandros and Tarod attending human parties incognito together at the beginning of Star Ascendant.)
